Hometown: I am proud to have grown up in Gilbert. However, I currently live, work, and play in the Biltmore-Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: Most mornings start with my dog Summer, and an early walk before the Arizona sun rises. It is quiet and simple, but it is a nice start to my day before it starts going 100 mph. I am happiest when I am in my garden or gathering around the table with family and friends for good food and easy conversation. Lately, those moments have felt even sweeter with my new nephew, Ronny, in the mix. Life is moving quickly, and I realize how important it is to be present. I also try to give back in ways that fill my heart. I am a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), a foster dog mom, and serve on advisory boards for community-focused organizations like Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels and Social Venture Partners AZ.

Current obsession: Lately, I have been listening to The Daily Stoic Podcast by Ryan Holiday. It is just a few minutes each morning, but it always feels like the universe queued up exactly what I needed to hear. I love that it draws on ancient Stoic philosophy; these ideas are thousands of years old, yet still relevant to everyday life.

What inspired your start in your career path: Early in my career, I realized how often the traditional financial world missed the mark, especially for women and people who were not already “in the club.” It felt like so much of the industry was built on commissions and sales goals, not real connections or guidance. That never sat right with me.

I wanted to build something different during my career, a client-first approach rooted in trust, transparency, and actual education. I have always believed that people deserve to feel confident and cared for when it comes to their money. As a woman in finance, I also saw how few opportunities there were for women to lead or even be heard. I knew I had to help create a way for women to connect with trustworthy advisors who aligned with my mission.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: I have always believed that something beautiful can come from difficult situations and that adversity can be the spark that leads to real change. For me, that spark was seeing how traditional finance often failed people, especially women. Too many financial firms place profits over people and leave clients feeling unheard. I wanted to build something that disrupted the industry’s high-commission culture and introduced a truly people-first, trustworthy concept – what we expect from a fiduciary.

In 2016, I founded Pearl Capital Management with a simple yet powerful idea: put clients first, build trust, and lead with integrity. From day one, it has been about creating a space where clients feel seen and supported and where the team is empowered to lead and grow.

In 2023, I started Svvy with my sister, Janice Utke; it is a finance technology company created for women, because I knew my mission was bigger than what I could do all on my own. We wanted to create a safer place where women could be matched with trustworthy experts in a few minutes and know they won’t be taken advantage of by a predatory salesperson. Svvy was created as an exclusive network of the best, client-serving advisors who are trustworthy and understand how to help women without judgment or pressure.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: Challenging the traditional, male-dominated financial industry has definitely been one of my biggest obstacles and, in many ways, my greatest motivator. When I started out, there weren’t many examples of women-led firms in this space, so I felt like I was walking alone at first.

Over time, seeing Pearl Capital Management thrive as a women-led, values-driven firm has been deeply rewarding. It is not just about breaking through barriers for myself, but showing other women that they do not have to fit into someone else’s mold of success. You can build something meaningful, do it your way, and still make a powerful impact.

Someone who inspires you and why: Brené Brown has been such a powerful inspiration in my life, both as a leader and as a human being. Her work on vulnerability and courage completely reframed how I think about leadership. The first time I watched her TED Talk, The Power of Vulnerability, I remember thinking, this is a powerful reminder that credibility is built through authenticity. It is not about being perfect or having all the answers; it is about showing up, even when things feel uncertain.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: You are not for everyone, and that’s a good thing! Early in my career, I spent way too much time trying to be the kind of financial advisor everyone would want to work with. I thought that if I could just be more experienced, more traditional, etc., it would somehow make me more credible to everyone. But the truth is, some people will always prefer the traditional “older grey-haired male advisor,” and that is okay. They’re just not my audience.

What’s a little-known fact most people aren’t aware of about you: Not everyone knows this about me, but I have fostered dogs for Arizona Humane Society for the past 10 years, and it’s one of the most chaotic yet rewarding things I do.

What makes someone fabulous: Someone is truly fabulous when their confidence comes from substance, from knowing who they are, what they stand for, and leading with integrity. It is not about being the loudest voice in the room, but about showing up consistently, following through, and treating people well along the way.
